The demand has long been one of the youth organisation SSU's most important housing policy demands.
"With this election promise, young people finally become a prioritised target group in housing policy. It is a victory for all young people who have been excluded from the housing market," says Moska Hassas, chairman of SSU, in a press release.
The proposal means that the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning will develop a national model for youth apartments in which more small and affordable rental apartments are reserved for young people instead of being allocated solely according to queue time.
