Students at the university should also be able to travel freely within the study area during the semesters.

Parts of the package will be presented by the party's economic policy spokesperson Mikael Damberg and climate policy spokesperson Åsa Westlund at a press conference on Tuesday.

It costs a few billion, says Damberg.

In addition to the public transport proposals, the plan includes green credit guarantees, a strengthened climate and industrial initiative for green industrial investments, and proposals to "kick-start the electrification of transport".

S also wants to see investment support in the form of government construction credits for housing construction, especially in locations where large investments increase the need for new housing.

A "rural lift" with measures to upgrade buildings and the outdoor environment in smaller towns is also among the proposals. At the same time, the Swedish Transport Administration will build up greater capacity for road maintenance.
