We need to ensure that all children born in Sweden can be born in a safe environment, and that all women who give birth and all fathers who are present can also have a safe experience, Andersson tells TT.
The party wants to achieve the goal by having the state enter into agreements with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR), in which the state would have the opportunity to contribute money.
"Exactly how much money needs to be allocated, we need to discuss with SKR. It looks different in different regions. Uppsala Region, for example, has just come forward with this and has allocated 35 million to be able to live up to this," says Andersson.
Are there enough midwives?
It is a big problem today that midwives also choose to leave the profession. One of the reasons why they do this is precisely because they feel that it is difficult to do a good job under the conditions that apply today. This is also a way to get more midwives to stay in the profession. It can also be a way to get midwives to choose to come back to the profession, says Andersson.
S went to the polls with the same promise ahead of the 2022 parliamentary election, when the party lost government power.
