"It's possible if you want to, when the situation is urgent," says S's legal-policy spokesperson, Teresa Carvalho.
S warns of another summer of murder ads on social media. The party emphasizes that the number of children and young people suspected in murder cases has surged since 2022, and believes that new recruitment has become the government's "blind spot".
The government has proposed a bill that would give the police the right to demand that posts aimed at recruiting young people for crime be removed from social media. The law is expected to come into effect on September 1.
That's not enough, Carvalho says.
S wants the government to act quickly to implement the law. According to Carvalho, it could come into force as early as midsummer.
