"We are critical of proposals that risk increasing child poverty and we fear that what the government has presented today risks contributing to more people needing income support. We are also critical of the fact that with this proposal, the civil engineer's children would receive child benefit but the assistant nurse's children would not," writes the party's social insurance policy spokesperson Ida Karkiainen in an email to TT.
Karkiainen is referring to the proposal for a fast track for working immigrants, under which people with higher salaries would have access to welfare earlier than those with lower salaries.
