The government proposes that privatization of emergency schools should be possible. Emergency schools accept students who have disciplinary problems or who need to be temporarily relocated for other reasons.

The Social Democrats are critical of private operators being allowed to run emergency schools. The party will vote no when the proposal is brought up in parliament in early summer.

We are already seeing how profiteers at regular schools are affecting students through poorer quality, and it is especially serious when it comes to emergency schools, says Anders Ygeman, school policy spokesperson for the Social Democrats.

He argues that private operators may want to keep students longer than necessary to earn more money.
