The Social Democrats now support the Tidö parties' proposal to allow revoking the citizenship of people convicted of crimes that seriously harm Sweden's "vital interests", reports Ekot on Sveriges Radio.
Gang crime is creeping into our systems, into courts, into political parties and other areas, and then we need to get legislation in place, says MP Amalia Rud Stenlöf (S) to the radio.
The Tidö parties have previously presented proposals to amend the constitution to revoke the citizenship of people convicted of gang crimes. The Social Democrats rejected the proposal in the constitutional committee as they considered the wording "vital interests" to be vague, but are now supporting it.
