"We are going to the elections as a single party, but I want to lead Sweden into a new spirit of cooperation," she says at a press conference together with the party's economic policy spokesperson Mikael Damberg.

The areas where Andersson sees scope for collaboration are an energy agreement, major infrastructure projects, a tax review, an agreement on a free and independent public service, and efforts against organized crime.

"I will seek such broad cooperation even after I have gathered a majority in parliament," she says.

No new messages

She is not giving any new information about who the Social Democrats (S) might consider governing with after the election. The statement that the party can cooperate with all parties except the Sweden Democrats remains firm.

"I have neither advocated nor ruled out any government; this is not a new statement on the government issue," Andersson says.

"The message I am giving today is that on these issues, even though I have a majority behind me, I see a point in finding broader agreements."

She envisions these agreements can be reached in different ways: either by first reaching an agreement within the government's framework and then taking a finished proposal to other parties, or through broader discussions with all parties simultaneously.

"Achieve results"

When it comes to the fight against gangs, parties such as the Left Party (V) and the Green Party (MP) have not wanted to go as far as the Social Democrats (S) and the government side on several points during this term. When asked if this is a way to avoid cooperating with them on certain issues, Mikael Damberg answers:

"No, it is rather a way to achieve results."

"We believe that many parties still share common views on the basic problem and that we could therefore reach a broader agreement."
