The national team starts against Slovakia

Victor Nilsson Lindelöf and Alexander Isak are back in the national team. Both were missing in the starting eleven against Slovakia in Bratislava. In the return match, they are included. "He is team captain and it is important for us to take part in his leadership," says national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson about Nilsson Lindelöf.

Here is the team he starts with in the group final against Slovakia later tonight:

Viktor Johansson – Victor Nilsson Lindelöf, Isak Hien, Gabriel Gudmundsson – Niclas Eliasson, Yasin Ayari, Dejan Kulusevski, Anton Salétros, Ken Sema – Viktor Gyökeres, Alexander Isak.

Isak was injured and missed the meetings with Slovakia and Estonia in October.

"He is a great player and a good leader for the team. He is one of the players I support to become an even stronger leader in the group. He has scored four goals in the club team after the injury period and is a world-class player", says Tomasson to the association's website.

"A fantastic trio"

Isak forms an attacking pair with Viktor Gyökeres.

"They have really done well together. Then we have, of course, 'Kulu' (Dejan Kulusevski) right behind. It's a fantastic trio", says the national team captain.

He has respect for Slovakia. It has not decreased after the 2-2 match in Bratislava in October.

Slovakia is an absolutely excellent team, I would say the best team in the entire C-division and they have had a strong 2024, they are at their peak and we are still building the team, says Tomasson.

Swedish substitutes: Jacob Widell Zetterström, Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Emil Holm, Samuel Dahl, Lucas Bergvall, Daniel Svensson, Emil Forsberg, Carl Starfelt, Jesper Karlström, Isac Lidberg, Nils Zätterström, Sebastian Nanasi.

Slovakia's starting eleven: Martin Dúbravka – Norbert Gyömbér, Denis Vavro, Milan Skriniar, Dávid Hancko – Ondrej Duda, Stanislav Lobotka, László Bénes – Dávid Duris, David Strelec, Tomás Suslov.

Win gives group victory

The conditions are simple ahead of tonight's group final in the Nations League.

The winner takes home the group and advances to the B-division and the next edition of the tournament in 2026. If it's a draw, Sweden will still top the group on better goal difference than Slovakia ahead of Tuesday's final round.

Then Azerbaijan comes to Solna while Slovakia takes on Estonia at home.

The kick-off is at 20.45 at the Strawberry arena.
