The heavy snowfall with strong gusts of wind is easing in Kalmar County. But the snowpack over eastern Svealand is expanding this weekend and now also includes Stockholm, SMHI warns. Over the next 24 hours, conditions will be worst along the Roslag coast, according to meteorologist Emma Härenstam.

The closer you are to the coast, the heavier the snow showers will be. We see that there will be very large amounts over Östhammar and Norrtälje, but also a bit inland,

An orange warning for snowfall combined with wind has been issued for both Saturday and Sunday for the area, which includes cities such as Stockholm, Uppsala, Åkersberga and Vaxholm.

SMHI warns that the storm could lead to very difficult traffic conditions.

Around Gävle and Sundsvall, the snowfall will decrease in intensity on Saturday evening.

The storm has its center over the Baltic Sea and will remain there and spin on Sunday, but then the low pressure will weaken and move further east,

There is also a yellow warning issued for large parts of Gotland from Saturday evening at 10 pm until Sunday at 10 am. Heavy snow showers are expected there, with 10-15 centimeters of snow that will subside during the morning.

It will be a little snowy even after this - on Monday and Tuesday - in southern Sweden, according to the meteorologist.

It's too early to say whether it will reach warning level, but it will weaken, she says.
