Snow and wind moved in over Skåne Monday evening. SMHI has issued an orange warning for southeastern Skåne, which could receive 30 centimeters of snow or more.

SMHI writes on its website that the weather can make it difficult to travel on the roads and that there is a risk of power outages.

The Swedish Transport Administration and Skånetrafiken have urged travelers to stay home. Train traffic between Ystad and Simrishamn is suspended until midnight.

At 9 p.m., it is "traffic calm," the Swedish Transport Administration's press service tells TT.

At 8:20 p.m., the Simrishamn urban area and the Gröstorp area were hit by a power outage that lasted approximately 20 minutes.

"We had approximately 4,600 subscribers who were affected," says Daniel Steiner, electricity network manager at Österlens Kraft.

A cable from the electricity company Eon stopped working. Österlens Kraft then connected a backup system.

"It is an overhead power line and we do not yet know exactly what caused it, but it may be related to strong winds and snow," says Lena Berglund at Eon's press service.

A yellow warning for snowfall and wind applies to almost all of Skåne, Blekinge County and southeastern Kalmar County. Several of the warnings extend well into Tuesday.
