On the artificial turf at Aspmyra Stadium, Bodø/Glimt had already defeated Olympiakos, Twente, and Maccabi Tel Aviv in this year's Europa League matches, with a total score of 11–3.

Now, Italian Lazio has also felt the North Norwegian cold – which resulted in a 0–2 loss.

Before the match, they had to work hard to clear the snow from the pitch after a snowfall that didn't cease until the afternoon. They succeeded, although some snowflakes still fell during the match.

Ulrik Saltnes scored both goals for Bodø/Glimt. The return match will be played in Rome next week.
