We have shut down a number of chat groups, but I will not go into how many right now, says Theodor Smedius at the police's National Operational Department (Noa) to P3 Krim.

In the spring, Europol launched operation Grimm in cooperation with the police in Sweden and several other countries to stop the recruitment of child soldiers.

Right now, these ads are up on Tiktok, Discord, Snapchat. This affects tens of thousands of our children and young people.

In the group "Samurajbarnen" on Telegram with 11,000 members that was discovered last November, a large number of murders and bombings were advertised.

We did not think that it reached so many, that there was such a flow of assignments, that so many violent crimes were coordinated in these groups, but after that, we have refined our methods and discovered groups that are significantly larger.

Telegram shut down the group at the police's request. The platforms usually do this, but Smedius is calling for greater own initiative.

They come to our meetings, they want to do something about the problem, but it is absolutely not enough. It's time to go from words to action.
