The fatal accident occurred on Boxing Day 2024. The man, who is in his 30s, fled after the collision but was arrested shortly afterwards.
He was charged with, among other things, aggravated manslaughter and leaving the scene of a traffic accident.
However, a forensic psychiatric investigation found that the man suffered from a serious mental disorder and could not be held responsible. The district court's decision also means that the woman's relatives will not receive any compensation.
