Around 600 people in Östersund received an SMS from the municipality with a request to boil the drinking water. But the mass dispatch was a mistake, reports P4 Jämtland.
The message had been prepared because an excavation work that is ongoing at the bottom of a lake in the municipality may affect the water quality. But no recommendation exists and the municipality denies the message on its website.
Ulf Norlén, who is the head of the technical administration, says according to the radio that someone seems to have "pressed the button" and says it is unfortunate that the SMS was sent out.
