Smotrich calls the ICC's action a result of the Palestinian Authority's attempts to pressure the court to indict high-ranking Israeli leaders.
The finance minister does not state what he is accused of, but during a press conference answering questions about the order, he praised his efforts to establish "over 100 new settlements" in the West Bank.
Smotrich is also responsible for civil matters such as building permits and supervision of construction in the West Bank.
