In a statement through his attorney, he denies the allegations.
"As this case continues, it will become clear that this is a dirty attempt to extort money from an 85-year-old American icon", says attorney Christopher Frost in the statement referred to by TMZ.
The four women are anonymous due to fear of reprisals and possible consequences for their residence permits in the USA. However, according to the lawsuit, the alleged crimes were committed between 2007 and 2024. Each of the four women claims that Smokey Robinson waited until he was alone with them in his home in Los Angeles, and then raped and sexually exploited them.
They are demanding $50 million in damages, approximately 480 million kronor. The damages are also being sought due to labor law violations such as excessively long working days and an unsafe work environment. Robinson's wife is also being sued.
Smokey Robinson was one of the biggest hitmakers of the 1960s, both as a solo artist and with the group The Miracles. He was a central part of the legendary record label Motown Records in Detroit, both as an artist, producer, and songwriter for other artists.
