Smith, who sat on the bench for the entire match against Ukraine on Thursday, has a strange knack for getting injured while on national team duty.
When Jon Dahl Tomasson was the national coach, the 29-year-old center back was called up to the national team four times - and was forced to decline each time.
Now he has been selected by Graham Potter for the crucial playoff matches.
"I am extremely happy that I got this chance and was able to go," he said earlier during the camp.
This weekend, Isak Hien was forced to withdraw after being injured against Ukraine. Hammarby's Victor Eriksson was then called up as reinforcement at center back.
