According to the forecast, the storm would move over Värmland after lunch and continue southeast across the country.
SMHI issued a yellow warning for torrential rain for large parts of Värmland County, western Örebro County and the far north of Västra Götaland County from noon.
Locally, 35-70 millimetres could fall in a short time, with thunderstorms in places.
“Powerful showers”
In addition, during the afternoon and into the evening there are two yellow wind warnings, one for large parts of the West Coast and Skåne and another for a stretch from Skaraborg down towards the northern parts of Kalmar County.
It's the same problem in all three areas, namely that we expect heavy showers and strong gusts of wind, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen, meteorologist at SMHI.
But we still believe that in the area north of Lake Vänern it is the rain rather than the wind that can cause problems. And the opposite is true over Götaland.
Cancelled trains
SMHI has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms over Gotland from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday night.
Due to the storm, the Swedish Transport Administration is raising the alert level in several regions and warning of the risk of flooded roads, fallen trees and disruption to road and rail traffic. Road users are urged to be alert, monitor the traffic situation and adjust their speed to the road conditions.
As a result of the strong winds, trains are being cancelled on several routes in Skåne and Blekinge until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Traffic editorial team on Sveriges Radio. Including on the routes Helsingborg–Lund and Kristianstad–Karlskrona.
