Malmö broke the heat record as 35.1 degrees were measured. But in Lund it was even hotter.
Lund was the warmest today with 36.3 degrees, says Viktor Bergman, meteorologist at SMHI.
Jönköping and Helsingborg had their warmest June day so far, with 34.2 and 33 degrees respectively.
Växjö had a temperature of 34.4 degrees, just shy of the city's previous heat record from 1992.
Thunderstorms are coming
However, the high temperatures are not expected to last.
Tomorrow there will be some rain and thunderstorms over the west coast and then they will move northeast, says Viktor Bergman.
SMHI has previously issued orange and yellow warnings for high temperatures in large parts of Götaland during the weekend.
Early Sunday morning, rain and thunderstorms will move in across the West Coast, from Strömstad to Halmstad, and in connection with that there will be a risk of very strong gusts of wind - up to gale force.
The storm will then move east and reach Stockholm and Uppsala in the afternoon.
It can get really windy in connection with that and that means the temperature doesn't reach as high, says Viktor Bergman.
Cooler next week
But he points out that it can still be over 30 degrees in Blekinge, Skåne, easternmost Svealand and easternmost Götaland.
Next week it will be a little cooler, especially on the Småland coast it could be up to 25 degrees during the day, says Viktor Bergman.
The electricity company Eon had almost 4,400 customers without power on Saturday afternoon in Jönköping, Kalmar and Skåne counties, due to thunderstorms. However, the problems were resolved during the evening.
