The yellow warning for strong winds and snow is in effect from 9 p.m. on Sunday to 7 a.m. on Tuesday in the northern Lapland mountains.
From 9 p.m. on Tuesday to 6 a.m. on Thursday, a warning for very strong winds in the bare mountains will apply in an area extending farther south.
At times, winds on the eastern side of the area may reach storm force, at 25–30 metres per second.
SMHI urges inexperienced hikers to cancel their mountain trips and warns that it may be difficult to move around and pitch and secure tents.
Snowdrifts may also reduce visibility, making it difficult to find your way.
In sub-zero temperatures or rain, there is a risk of frostbite.
