SMHI has issued yellow warnings for sudden ice slippage in parts of four counties in northern Sweden on Tuesday.

This concerns parts of the counties of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Jämtland and Västernorrland.

Starting Tuesday night, a warm front will pass with rain or freezing rain, and the rain will freeze into ice on cold surfaces, which poses a risk of sudden ice slips.

From 3 a.m. Tuesday night until 12 a.m., the warning applies to a large part of Jämtland and Västernorrland counties, as well as the southern parts of Västerbotten.

Between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., the warning applies to northeastern Västerbotten County and southeastern Norrbotten County.

"Drive carefully and adapt your speed to the road conditions. Allow more time for your journey," SMHI writes on its website.

There is also a risk of delays or cancellations in public transport.

A yellow weather warning means consequences for society and certain risks for the public.
