SMHI has issued a yellow warning for strong cooling in the Norrland Mountains on Monday. The warning is valid from midnight until 11 p.m.

On Monday, winds on the bare mountains will freshen and, at the same time, it will be very cold, producing a strong wind chill.

For example, the ski resort of Åre, which is within the current warning area, is expected to have a temperature of minus 11 degrees Celsius at 12 noon on Monday, but with the fresh winds it will feel like minus 20 degrees Celsius.

Under these conditions, the risk of frostbite is high, and SMHI urges people outdoors in the area to seek shelter from the wind and pay attention to their body's signals.
