Roads have flooded, and the fire service has received several calls about water damage in villas and other buildings in the municipality of Sotenäs, among other places, reports Bohusläningen.

The emergency services have also been called out to help home care workers get through. In Tossene, tracked vehicles have been deployed because a road has been washed away.

"There is a lot of damage in the community, and a lot of infrastructure has not held up. Many properties have been affected. We have to deal with this during the day," says Peter Bergman, rescue chief in Sotenäs, to the newspaper.

SMHI (the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute) has issued a yellow warning for high flows in Bohuslän, Dalsland and parts of Värmland after heavy rain fell overnight on Thursday. SMHI warns motorists against driving through bodies of water and urges them to take measures to protect properties in vulnerable areas.

SMHI has also issued a warning for parts of Gävleborg County. From Thursday evening, large amounts of rain may fall locally in a short time. The rain will ease on Friday morning, but until then a total of 60–100 millimeters may fall.
