The warning applies to the easternmost parts of Västerbotten County, and parts of the coast and inland areas of Norrbotten County, from 12:00 to 20:00 on Saturday.
"During Saturday afternoon, heavy rain or thunderstorms may form along a front over northern Sweden. These showers can locally produce large amounts of rain, 30-50 millimeters, in a short time," SMHI writes on its website.
SMHI urges road users to avoid driving through standing water on roads and viaducts, and to allow more time for travel.
"Travel times may be longer as there may be poor visibility and a risk of aquaplaning," writes SMHI.
