Three buildings, two villas and an outhouse, began to burn after repeated lightning strikes in Gävle.
One of the villas was saved thanks to a clever intervention by neighbors, says alarm commander Andreas Wikström at Gästrike rescue service.
More thunderstorms and above all rain are to be expected. SMHI has issued a yellow warning for the northern part of Stockholm County, Uppsala, Västmanland, northern Örebro and a large part of Dalarna County, southern Gävleborg County and northern Värmland. The warning applies until Sunday evening.
Wet Monday
The same area, as well as the southernmost part of Jämtland, is now also warned for heavy showers during Monday. Locally, large amounts of rain, 30 to 50 millimeters, will fall in a short time.
At the same time, SMHI is warning of continued heat in central and northern Norrland, with temperatures up to 30 degrees.
Forest fires
Additionally, the risk is great or very great for forest fires in the central and eastern parts of Västerbotten and Norrbotten counties, Västernorrland County and parts of Jämtland County, as well as northeastern Götaland.
The highest temperatures in the country at lunchtime on Sunday were recorded in Norrbotten. Kvikkjokk-Årrenjarka had 29.6 degrees, Älvsbyn 29.5 and Överkalix-Svartbyn 29.4 degrees.
Corrected: In an earlier version, the time for the temperature indication was misleading.
