In parts of Blekinge, Kalmar and Kronoberg counties, temperatures are expected to reach at least 33 degrees for several days in a row. An orange warning from SMHI is in effect from Thursday afternoon to Monday evening. From Saturday, parts of Skåne are also included until Sunday evening.
There is also a yellow warning for large parts of Götaland from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.
“Gradually warmer”
In Kalmar and parts of Blekinge, it could be around 30 degrees today. In the coming days it is expected to gradually become warmer by about one degree a day, says Johan Lundberg.
Currently, the weather warnings extend to Monday and Sunday, but they may be extended.
The heat will ease in the western parts at the beginning of next week, but around Kalmar County and southeastern Götaland it could still be around 30 degrees. The worst of the heat will leave on Tuesday, but the week will continue with just over 25 degrees in Kalmar County, says Johan Lundberg.
Anyone staying in these areas should pay attention to their body's signals, drink water and take it easy, says Johan Lundberg.
It may be good to avoid too many activities that involve physical exertion.
Showers elsewhere
While the heat is picking up in the southern parts of the country, milder weather and showers are expected in parts of Svealand and southernmost Norrland this weekend. In the northern parts of the country, temperatures are not expected to be as high as in the south, around 20 degrees, and in some places down to 15 degrees, according to Johan Lundberg.
On Friday, there is also a widespread area of rain moving through central Sweden and central Norrland.
