SMHI warns of downpour-like rain in parts of Svealand and southern Norrland on Sunday. On Saturday, the warning was slightly extended.

During the night towards Sunday, a precipitation area with persistent rain is expected to move in over Svealand. Large amounts of rain can fall in a short time – up to between 30 and 50 millimeters. Local thunder can also occur.

SMHI has issued a yellow warning for the northern part of Stockholm County, Uppsala County, Västmanland County, the northern part of Örebro County, Dalarna and southern Gävleborg County.

On Saturday, the warning was extended. It now applies to large parts of Dalarna – previously it only applied to Dalarna south of Siljan.

The rain can lead to flooding on roads and in viaducts. Basements can also be affected.

At the same time, SMHI is warning of heat in central and northern Norrland, with temperatures up to 30 degrees. The heat means an increased risk of health problems, especially for risk groups such as people with underlying diseases, the elderly or small children, according to SMHI.

In addition, the risk is high or very high for forest fires in several parts of the country. This applies to the central and eastern parts of Västerbotten and Norrbotten County, Västernorrland County and parts of Jämtland County, as well as northeastern Götaland.
