The prolonged rain in Norrbotten has led to unusually high water flows and flooding.
An orange warning for the areas around Boden is now in effect throughout Sunday. This concerns a continued risk of flooding around the lakes Buddbträsket, Bodträsket, Svartbyträsket and Ljusån.
A yellow warning for high flows and local flooding in eastern Norrbotten County, from the coast to Jokkmokk, is also in effect until Sunday.
Although the rain has eased, it will take a while for the water to subside, says meteorologist Sanny Saarela at SMHI.
Looking ahead, we see that the rain streak will break up over the weekend. There may be an occasional shower on Saturday and Sunday, but nothing that will produce large amounts, she says.
