Viktor Bergman, meteorologist on duty at SMHI, points out that the country is facing a period of high pressure, drought and heat.

In large parts of Norrland, the ground is still wet, but if you look even further ahead, the fire risk will probably extend to the inland areas of Norrland as well, he says.

Previously, southern Sweden was covered up to southern Dalarna and Gästrikland. But SMHI is now including almost the entire Norrland coast for the next few days.

Currently, northern Gotland is not affected. The same applies to an area in northwestern Skåne up to southern Halland.

However, Viktor Bergman does not rule out that the latter area could also be affected.

It's one of the few places today that has cloudy weather and rain, but when we have this dry and warmer weather coming, that could change later in the week.

In several places, the fire risk is extreme and Viktor Bergman urges people to check local fire bans.

P4 Väst reports, among other things, that starting at 12:00 on Tuesday, it is prohibited to light fires in forests and on land in the municipalities of Sotenäs, Tanum and Strömstad. Several municipalities are also urging caution.
