Soft drink giant Coca-Cola made a higher profit than expected in the third quarter. Both seasonally adjusted revenues and earnings per share exceeded expectations.

Smaller bottles and cans in the product range contribute to driving sales when competition in store shelves intensifies and consumers' living costs rise.

Coca-Cola's share rises by 2.5 percent in futures trading on Wall Street after the report.

Net sales were $12.5 billion in the third quarter, which gave a profit per share of 82 cents. The average forecast among analysts was 78 cents per share, according to Bloomberg.
