The crash occurred in Tomblaine, a suburb of the city of Nancy, at 11 a.m. on Sunday. A photo published by the newspaper L'est Républicain shows a small plane that has crashed in a residential area, behind a barrier.
The pilot and all ten passengers on board died, according to local authorities.
According to information provided to the French newspaper, the plane was taking off with five instructors and five nurses who were going to parachute for the first time.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez is said to be arriving at the scene within the next few hours.
