The S&P 500 index closed unchanged while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 0.2 percent and the broad Dow Jones industrial average fell 0.1 percent.
Among the big losers was the payment service Klarna, which fell 7.9 percent.
The nonfarm payrolls report for January shows that 130,000 new jobs were created outside the agricultural sector in the US, compared to an expected 65,000.
Overall, this is a good sign, of course, but we are definitely not out of danger when it comes to the labor market. “It’s going in the right direction” is a better description of the situation, says analyst Rick Wedell to CNBC.
