Small movements on Asian stock markets at Thursday's open

Small movements characterize Thursday's opening trading on Asian stock exchanges.

South Korea's Kospi is up 1.0 percent, while the Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is up 0.5 percent.

South Korean company Samsung Electronics shares rose 2.6 percent at the open after the company reported record profits and beat expectations in its quarterly report. They then reversed, and the shares fell 1.0 percent.

In China, both Shenzhen and Shanghai lost 0.1 percent. Japan's Topix also fell by the same amount, while the Nikkei 225 was unchanged.
