South Korea's Kospi continues to perform strongly. Monday's increase spilled over somewhat into Tuesday's trading and by lunchtime the index had risen around 1.4 percent.
Movements in other markets were smaller. In Tokyo, the trend was upward. The Nikkei 225 had increased by 0.6 percent shortly after the lunch break, while the broader Topix showed a plus of 0.4 percent.
Chinese stock markets had a more gloomy opening. Shenzhen lost 0.5 percent and Shanghai 0.4 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng showed minus 0.2 percent.
