In China, the Shanghai Composite Index is up 0.3 percent, while Shenzhen is down 0.1 percent.

In Japan, the Topix rose 0.2 percent. The Nikkei 225 index added 0.1 percent.

Several stock exchanges in Asia are closed on Christmas Day.
