Vinčić has solid final experience, having previously refereed the 2022 Europa League final and the 2024 Champions League final.
When it became clear that the 46-year-old had been given the prestigious assignment, he became emotional and burst into tears, according to a clip published by the International Football Association Board (FIFA) on Friday morning.
The final will be his fourth match in the tournament. He has previously been in charge of Brazil-Morocco, Jordan-Algeria and the round of 16 match between Mexico and Ecuador.
The final kicks off at 9:00 PM on Sunday.
