Slovakia has made an agreement with the USA to build another reactor at the nuclear power plant in Jaslovské Bohunice, says Prime Minister Robert Fico.

The announcement was made according to the news agency AP at a nuclear power conference in Bratislava on Tuesday, but contained no details on when the reactor will be completed and how much it will cost.

Nuclear power already accounts for 80 percent of the electricity in Slovakia. At the same time, the country has received harsh criticism from other EU and NATO countries for stubbornly sticking to its import of Russian gas and oil, despite the war in Ukraine.
