Slight upside on Wall Street

The New York Stock Exchange rose on Friday, albeit moderately, after inflation figures convinced the market that the US Federal Reserve will cut interest rates next week.

The broad-based S&P 500 index and the Dow Jones industrial average both rose 0.2 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 0.3 percent.

Netflix fell 2.9 percent after the announcement that the streaming giant is buying the film company Warner Bros, including competitor HBO Max, for the equivalent of SEK 677 billion. Warner Bros shares rose 6.3 percent.

Lingerie chain Victoria's Secret presented a quarterly report in which the loss was smaller than analysts had predicted and the revenue forecast for the full year 2025 was better than expected. The stock surged 18 percent.

Over the past week, the S&P 500 rose 0.3 percent, the Dow Jones 0.5 percent and the Nasdaq 0.9 percent.
