Japan's Nikkei 225 is up 1.1 percent. In China, Shenzhen is up 0.6 percent and Shanghai is up 0.3 percent.
South Korea's Kospi is up 0.6 percent, and the broader Topix is up 0.6 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is unchanged.
