The woman's apartment was completely covered in water when she and two family members woke up. The moisture damage in the apartment and the care facility on the floor below cost nearly 330,000 kronor to remediate, writes Hem & Hyra.
The landlord believed that the woman should pay for the damage since she sat on the water and sat down on the floor drain.
The woman herself claimed, however, that everything happened while she was sleepwalking and denied, together with her insurance company, the claim from the landlord.
According to her own statement, which has been confirmed by her family, the woman has had problems with sleepwalking before and has sought care after the incident.
The District Court chose to follow the woman's line and acquitted her of the claim. The verdict may be appealed.
