It will be clearer when regions pay for digital care that takes place in another county. A digital care contact should only be eligible for reimbursement "if it constitutes qualified healthcare." Compensation should not be paid, for example, for advice on self-care without a medical assessment.
"It is good that we have now updated the recommendations with examples of when a digital healthcare contact does not qualify for compensation. At the same time, it is frustrating that we have to define for online medical companies what constitutes qualified care. This shows that something is wrong with online medical companies' business models and the care they offer residents," says Anna-Lena Hogerud, chair of the SKR's healthcare delegation, in a press release.
However, she calls for "a thorough review of the entire system" of so-called out-of-county compensation.
