The Olympic and World Championship gold medalist has been doing CrossFit - a combination of strength and conditioning - during the pre-season in recent years.
But it was this summer that she took it a step further.
It has become an even bigger part of my pre-season, and when some friends were going to compete, I thought, "I'm going." So a friend and I signed up for the competition, says Näslund.
The competition went well.
We came second. It was a team competition where you competed in pairs, in Luleå. I think there were about 14 teams, so you have to say it went well. It was mostly for fun, but it's always fun to compete.
Extends career
Näslund says CrossFit is a form of exercise that works very well for her and that she has "found the fun in the boring."
The fitness period isn't always fun. But I think I've found something. As a ski cross racer, you need to be versatile. You need strength and balance, flexibility and endurance. You get that in CrossFit.
Thirty-year-old Näslund even believes CrossFit training will extend her ski cross career.
Yes, I think so. As I said, it's a very good form of training for becoming more athletic, and it's a lot of fun.
Dreaming about the Olympics
In recent years, Näslund has suffered serious injuries, including a fractured tibia and a knee injury. Now her body feels good, she says, which is why she has a long-term dream of winning another Olympic medal in the French Alps in 2030.
I'll take it season by season and see how my motivation is. But if I ski well and my body continues to feel good, the Olympics are definitely a long-term goal. But we'll see - we'll take it season by season.
This year's World Cup season begins in Val Thorens, France, on December 10. The World Championships will be held in Austria in March.
It's almost as if I rank the World Cup higher than the World Championships, but of course I want to do well at the World Championships too, says Sandra Näslund.

CrossFit is a form of training that combines strength and conditioning, with a variety of exercises performed at high intensity. Training combines weightlifting and powerlifting, gymnastics, running and intervals in various forms. The idea is to create as varied a workout as possible.
Examples of CrossFit exercises include push-ups, deadlifts, squats, rope climbing, bench presses, military presses and running.
