The prize money is increasing in all disciplines of the World Championship for skiing and snowboarding next season.
This was voted through by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) during its congress on Friday.
”It is obvious that we still have a lot to do when it comes to paying our athletes as they deserve. This is an important step, but just one more on a long road ahead”, says FIS President Johan Eliasch in a statement.
FIS guarantees that the prize money will increase by at least 10 percent, but the association hopes that the increase will amount to 20 percent with the help of the local competition organizers ”on a voluntary basis”.
