Alexander Skarsgård's new film "Pillion" can be pitted against Stellan Skarsgård's latest drama "Sentimental value" for the European film prize.

The European Film Academy, EFA, has released the list of 44 feature films that will compete for the nominations for the prize to be awarded in January.

No Swedish film qualifies for the list, however, the Skarsgård family can continue to hope for nominations through the queer British biker drama "Pillion", where the eldest son Skarsgård plays the lead role and the Norwegian family drama "Sentimental value" with father Skarsgård in a leading role.

Also, Noomi Rapace's latest film "Mother", where the Swede plays Mother Teresa, is among the listed films. The drama is a co-production between Belgium and North Macedonia.

The final nominations will be presented on November 18. The European film gala will be held on January 17 in Berlin.
