Skanska has been commissioned to build Long Bridge North in Washington DC, USA. The order is worth approximately 6.7 billion kronor. The contract will be included in the order intake for the USA for the second quarter of 2025, according to a press release from the construction company.

”The approximately 1.6 kilometer long railway connection will replace the current two-track system and improve the trafficked railway corridor from East Potomac Park to Washington D.C's L’Enfant Plaza Station with a series of connected, four-track modern railway bridges and replace the aging two-track system”, writes Skanska.

Construction starts in July 2025 and the project is expected to be completed in December 2030.

Skanska also announces that the construction company has been commissioned by Malmö city to build a sports building near the stadium in Malmö – with football pitch, basketball hall and teaching premises. The contract is valued at approximately one billion kronor which will be included in the order intake for the third quarter of the year.

”The construction start is planned for August 2025 and the project as a whole is expected to be completed in 2028”, writes Skanska.
