According to the newspaper, the man moved from the Stockholm area to the Malmö region after complaints about his animal keeping. He has kept a large number of dogs, rabbits, geese, chickens, and pigeons.

The problems with the Skåne County Administrative Board date back to 2021, when the man's mistreatment of dogs was brought to attention. Since then, the Board has conducted inspections and taken into custody a large number of animals, writes Sydsvenskan.

Earlier this year, he was banned from having animals altogether. Furthermore, he is being demanded 1.4 million kronor to cover the costs incurred from everything from veterinary visits to rehousing.

The man has appealed. He claims that he loves animals and that his life situation has changed.
