The mapping of Skåne's literary history includes, among other things, sections on Victoria Benedictsson, Birger Sjöberg, and Frans G Bengtsson, but also lesser-known authors.
Litteraturkartan.se has been developed by the Swedish Academy's digital resource Litteraturbanken and is intended to make major Swedish authors accessible. Bohuslän, Dalsland, Västergötland, Halland, Värmland, and Blekinge have been included in the service since earlier.
A range of Skåne towns and places connected to Swedish authors are marked on the digital map, which actually extends abroad – to Denmark.
"It is impossible to talk about Skåne's history without including Denmark in the picture. And for literary Sweden, Denmark, and above all Copenhagen, has always been central," says Dick Claésson, Litteraturbanken's editor-in-chief in a press release.
