The average customer received a variable mortgage interest rate of 2.77 percent in May, unchanged from April. This is shown by a compilation of banks' average interest rates by comparison site Zmarta.
Skandiabanken had the lowest average variable interest rate, 2.64 percent, while Swedbank offered the lowest average interest rate on a three-year loan, 3.09 percent. Danske Bank had the lowest five-year mortgage interest rate, at 3.03 percent.
The differences between banks are greater for fixed-rate mortgages than for variable-rate loans.
"The longer you commit, the more it costs to choose the wrong bank," says Zmarta's household economist Ola Söderlind in a written comment.
