The Swedish swimming star scored 25.31 in the trials.
The Classic Settecolli is the 32-year-old's second competition since her successful comeback in April - after becoming a mother. Back home in Stockholm, she swam only the 50 metres freestyle.
The competition in Italy is her rehearsal for the European Championships in August.
The final will be decided tonight.
